The Partnership with the Braintree Police Department Supports BHS Senior Week I want to publically thank the Braintree Police Dept for their partnership with BHS in support of Senior Activities. Their professionalism and commitment to safety is acknowledged as they support the traditional Car Parade from Sunset Lake, scheduled for Tuesday May 22nd. We realize that this is a disruption to the community, yet for 10 minutes our Seniors are allowed to celebrate their final day of school. Thank you to Chief Frazier, Deputy Jenkins, Officer Toomey, Officer Fahey and the countless other officers that support our school and keep our students safe. David M. Turn the page: May to June 2012!
As we turn the calendar to June, we reflect on the months past; the seasons, the activities, the classroom routines and the noise of the cafeteria, hallways, gymnasium and auditorium. As educators, we are blessed with the opportunity to share life experiences with the young people of Braintree High School. The anticipation to begin school in September is transformed in June, as students prepare for their next journey, their next challenge. Even though school comes to a close, new challenges come into view. Our seniors leave our school; some leave our town and their homes, as they now will broaden their horizons. The junior class fills the void left by the senior leaders of our school. Members of the junior class now park their cars, sit in lunch and assume the gathering spots of the graduating seniors. It truly is a fascinating phenomenon. Our sophomores will mature as young men and women with a renewed focus on their academic and social responsibilities. Our freshmen have climbed over the mountain of their first year in high school and now see the landscape they must maneuver through the next three years. The high school journey all becomes a bit clearer in June, but new challenges emerge with each celebrated accomplishment.
Hopefully all of our students will evaluate, beyond report cards and wins and losses, how they performed during the school year. They should ask themselves, "what areas did they excel and what experiences continue to be a challenge for them". Self reflection is a powerful tool that fosters success. I am hopeful that students will explore new experiences and continue to learn in the classroom and from one another. Adolescence is a time for exploration and exploration stimulates learning. With the guidance of teachers, counselor, coaches and parents our students will prosper during their experience at Braintree High school.
As our seniors graduate on Saturday June 2nd, the rest of our student body will be hard at work. The Science MCAS Exams are June 5th & 6th, Canobie Lake Trip for the Sophomore and Freshmen Class, Sports Awards, Scholarship Night on May 30th and Final Exams. Life at BHS is always busy!
Graduation is in our midst. Congratulations to the Class of 2012. May you show the world all that you have learned!!!
